A sequel to Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is in the works. Sumo Digital and SEGA will release “Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed” this autumn.
When we first heard rumblings of a followup, the project was rumored for the 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and 3DS. Two out of those three platforms have been confirmed. Right now the game is heading to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, 3DS, and Vita. Unlike the original, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed is not coming to Wii. This makes us think that SEGA will be announcing a version for Nintendo’s new console at E3…

- Sumo had come up with their ideas before Mario Kart 7 was revealed
- Tweaks in handling when you go underwater
- Fully-fledged flight model for air segments

- Handling is comparable to Mario Kart and OutRun, but with a little more heft
- Can track off waves for a boost on occasion
- Watch out for whirlpools that can slow you down or drag you under

- Monkey Ball track: choice of winding, narrow, barrier-free strips of track up above, or the wider stretches below that are slower but easier to negotiate

- Sumo needed permission from SEGA Japan to include water for the Monkey Ball stage
- Improvements in graphics
- Composer Richard Jacques is working on the game
- Remix of classic SEGA tunes
- Commentator from the first game is gone
- Announcer only interjects to share the most important race information
- Crowd will clap, cheer, chant for their favorite racer
- Sonic drives his Koenigsegg-style supercar
- Team is trying to make the vehicles cooler
- Skies of Arcadia’s Vyse is in the game, has a vehicle based on the Delphinus
- Golden Axe’s Gilius Thunderhead is in the game, has a Ray Harryhausen-esque bronze creature that morphs into a turtle and an eagle

- Final unlockable level will impress SEGA fans
- Earn points for your chosen character that feed into a leveling system
- Unlock trinkets/vehicle mods
- Split-screen multiplayer
