Katsuhiro Harada has said Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will not feature paid, character DLC on the retail disc.
“The character locks were like that – we never took money for it but the concept itself was there,”he said. “I think really the players’ opinions and the heated discussion is whether you charge for it or not.” Harada admitted he was unfamiliar with why some firms include paid-DLC on a disc such as with Capcom’s Street Fighter series, but he surmised it may have something to do with being able to transfer data promptly between those who have purchased the DLC and those who have not. Those who pre-order Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will have early access to certain characters, but only for a limited time, and while he wouldn’t deny the possibility of paid content for the game in the future, Harada said such DLC would be for “cosmetic, fan-requested items or balance-breaking combat sets.”
